Cross 05 11x14 (inches) oil on cotton canvas mounted to laminate wood.

Like before, this is my interpretation-study-copy of a Georgia O’Keeffe painting “Gray Cross with Blue”. It is another powerful painting of an imposing cross.

This is my last post for a while. I am going on a fast for several weeks; a fast from electronic entertainment. This includes games, TV, movies, music, and [unfortunately] blog sites … even mine. The good news is I will be praying more and seeking God’s will in my life. Please pray for me that God’s uses this time to better mold and shape me into the Christian He wants me to be. Thanks.

Cross 06 11x14 (inches) oil on cotton canvas mounted to laminate wood.

This is my interpretation (study-copy) of a Georgia O’Keeffe painting “Black Cross, New Mexico”. I love the dramatic imposing image of the cross that covers the background. It is a powerful painting.

Hidden Gifts

Beach and Grass, 4 x 5 (inches) watercolor on 300 lb cotton cold-press paper

This is one my lovely wife painting during our summer (2008) family vacation to Florida. She rarely paints, but does very well when she brings out the paints – even though she believes she lacks talent. She does not know I am posting this, so I better act fast before I am discovered.

It is amazing the gifts God gives us that are hidden behind the scenes in our life – lying unnoticed and ready for use. These gifts surface at times to be used to create beautiful works that enrich the lives of others. Like this painting waiting to be enjoyed by others.

Use your gifts.

Aspens and Snow

Aspens and Snow, 9.5 x 12.5 (inches) water color on 90 lb cotton paper

I am fascinated with the patterns in the world around us. They are like Gods fingerprints showing us He has touched everything we see.

Trip to Arkansas

Leaf and Walnut Shell, 11 x 14 (inches), water color on cotton paper, 2008-11-14

Last weekend mywife, children, and I went to a state park in Arkansas. We rented a cabin built by the CCC. It was wonderful - mostly great family time. We missed the fall colors, so I painted a leaf and walnut shell combination. Amy made the composition (she is better at this that I am) and I painted it.

[another] Painted Card for my Wife

Grapes 02, Oil on hardboard, 4 x 5 (inches), 2008-02-26.

This is another card I gave to my wife. On the back it reads “Abide in the True Vine. John 15:1-5”. When we accept God’s plan of salvation (via Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross), we are grafted (become a brother/sister in the Lord) into the Tue Vine (Jesus, God’s only Son).

Painted Card for my Wife

Rose, Oil on hardboard, 4 x 5 (inches), 2008-01-08.

This is a card I gave to my wife. On the back it reads “
I married you because God created all things and He took special care in crafting the rose and you”. This painting is based on a close-up photograph I took a few years back. The petals were red on top and white underneath which gave it an interesting glow that I poorly underrepresented in this painting. All was not lost for my wife still loved the thoughtfulness, card, and painting.

Fruit Paintings
